Janice King, RD, LDN, SNS, CDE, is director of school nutrition at Auburn Public Schools. Auburn Public Schools is made up of five schools and 2,700 students. Janice brings to her audience an expansive career in nutrition and foodservice management. Her background experiences include K-12 child nutrition, medical centers, colleges and universities, private practice nutrition, and food management and nutrition consulting; all sharing her love for food and nutrition. She holds an MEd nutrition education from Framingham State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and food service management from Purdue University. She is a registered dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator, health coach, Institute of Child Nutrition instructor, and ServSafe instructor. She is actively involved at the national level in the School Nutrition Association (SNA), where she serves as chair of the Governing Council overseeing certification and credentialing for members. At the local level, she has served in many roles, including as president of the SNA of Massachusetts. Janice has taught food safety, nutrition, and food service management at Framingham State University for two years in addition to her role as director in her school nutrition program. She loves to explore the culinary world through international cooking, studying plant-forward ingredients, and developing recipes. She is an avid gardener and loves to travel. Janice is currently implementing a large USDA Specialty Crops Grant to develop a model for sourcing local foods and providing culinary education for school nutrition staff in small school districts. Janice is very excited to share the world of nutrition, food safety, and food management through opportunities to interact and train school nutrition professionals. She lives in North Brookfield, MA with her husband.  Her son, Andrew, is a family practice physician and her daughter, Emily, is a marketing specialist. (Auburn, MA)
