Catharine Powers is a registered dietitian, culinary trainer and partner with Culinary Nutrition Associates LLC and Culinary Nutrition Publishing LLC. She is an expert in the field of culinary nutrition and K-12 school nutrition. She has also authored several textbooks used in culinary programs, including Essentials of Nutrition for Chefs and Recipe Nutrient Analysis: Best Practices for Calculation and Chemical Analysis.
Cathy taught for 15 years at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) where she was instrumental in developing the Institute’s cutting-edge nutrition program. She was also chair of the CIA’s Healthy Kids Collaborative.
Cathy is passionate about school nutrition and works with school nutrition professionals across the country to improve culinary skills and food quality. She also develops new recipes for K-12 programs and leads a variety of new intiatives in the field. She founded the K-12 school nutrition resource, HealthySchoolRecipes.com.
